How We Met

Andy and I meet in the beginning of June 2010. I must admit, it was love at first sight, er I mean email J We had both just signed up for MATCH.com. Andy's therapist urged him to create a profile and I had created an account wondering if I would meet anyone with the long list of qualities of what I was looking for.

Andy sent me a message on Sunday that had me smiling ear from ear. He was just FUNNY! I checked out his profile and was intrigued. He had a great smile, warm eyes and I was smitten. The emails started between us. Then we started texting. Soon I was checking my phone non-stop waiting to hear from him. We had our first phone conversation Tuesday. And for those who know me, I hate to talk on the phone. But with him, it was totally different.  I loved every second.

We decided to take a leap of faith and meet that night, with me going over to house. It was a big move, so I had texted my friend Monique with all the info… where I was going, phone numbers etc.… she texted back saying she would randomly be texting throughout and that if I did not answer, she would be calling the police. :)

I drove to Roseville and nervously knocked on the door. I walked in to three boys doing dot art at the dining room table (which is funny because everyone is sitting at the dining room table right now coloring) and Andy emptying the dishwasher. We have never looked back. I am always reminded of that famous line from When Harry Met Sally....when Harry goes to Sally at the New Year's Eve Party, "when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. "

We spent four evenings a row getting to know all about each other… kids, jobs, childhoods, losing Jen and my Dad, crying in each other’s arms.  In him I had a connection unlike anything I ever knew.

We have been together for over four years and are engaged to be married. Building a future together has been one of the hardest things we have ever done. But, it by far is the most rewarding. We are best friends and we love spending our life together.
